The Feast of Merit was a series of ceremonies, each more lavish than the preceeding, culminated in the sacrifice of a mithun, a kind of buffalo also known as a 'seijang'. A wealthy man transmits his own fertility, and its ability to get things done and to acquire wealth, to members of his community through the use of his wealth, to provide rice, meat and rice beer.
