Abstract:
Two women, one with a baby on her back, each wears a cloth tucked round the body under the armpits, and their hair is cropped short, unlike that of the children in other pictures of children from this period. ( en )

The image is part of Album C. The first part of this Album contains photographs taken when Mills was touring with J.H. Hutton in the Konyak country in October 1923. Album B. also contains some photographs taken on this tour. At the time Mills was Assistant Commissioner, based at Mokokchung, and Hutton was Deputy Commissioner at Kohima. The latter part of the Album consists of photographs from other areas. These cannot be dated, but were probably taken at about the same period.
