Notes

General Note:
Original bound in volume 1 of 3.
General Note:
Hand-drawn, with hand colouring.
General Note:
Also attributed to Octavian Dalvimart, engraved by various artists, and published by William Miller in a volume entitled 'Costume Of Turkey' (London, 1802). This is likely not the case as the style of this illustration is different from that of Dalvimart. Indeed, Dalvimart appears to have been a copist; his images and their settings bear a strong likeness to those of Cousinéry.
General Note:
The Tournagi Bachi is a fourth ranking Janissary. The Tournagi Bachi has custody of falcons and the Grand Sultan's other birds of prey
General Note:
Le Tournage Bachi est la quatrième classement janissaire. Il garde les faucons et d'autres oiseaux de proie du Grand-Seigneur.
