Notes

General Note:
Original bound in volume 1 of 3.
General Note:
Hand-drawn, with hand colouring.
General Note:
Also attributed to Octavian Dalvimart, engraved by various artists, and published by William Miller in a volume entitled 'Costume Of Turkey' (London, 1802). This is likely not the case as the style of this illustration is different from that of Dalvimart. Indeed, Dalvimart appears to have been a copist; his images and their settings bear a strong likeness to those of Cousinéry.
General Note:
This may be Bajazet Ali Hogia, preacher to the seraglio. (Reference: Marana, John Paul. The eight volumes of letters writ by a turkish spy who livid five and forty years undiscover'd at Paris, … (London : G. Straham, 1734. vol. 2, p. 251.)
