- Katibı, or Katib-ı, originally from 'Katib-ı rumi' being an employee of a pious foundation, established by Süleyman the Magnificent founded in 1540, that was responsible for food supply in the holy cities. Katibı is a Turkish word for clerk. This style of hat was often associated with functionaries.
