Notes

General Note:
George E. Cormack was born in 1886. He spent the period 1913-1917 in Manchuria as a business representative, returning to Britain escorting a group of Chinese labourers destined for the Chinese Labour Corps. He served with the British Expeditionary Force in North Russia between 1918-1919 and this was followed by a brief sojourn in South Russia, 1919-1920. He then worked in Estonia and Latvia as a shipping agent, 1924-1940. He returned to northern Russia from 1941-1942 as a Ministry of War Transport representative with the Murmansk convoys. He died in 1959.

From the collection comprised 42 slides, principally of Manchuria and the Chinese Labour Corps taken by George Cormack (1912-1919). The material is arranged in chronological order.

The physical collection also includes an album of photographs (1912-1913) relating to a visit on the Trans-Siberian Railway to Siberia and North Manchuria.
