Abstract:
Native contributions and system on which the money is advanced to them. Trade bad owing to the California mania. Great decrease in prices for native produce. State of Church and schools. As at other stations attendance of boys very irregular. Tapoa’s influence pernicious, and fears of his being in secret negotiations with the French. Sydney. Aug. 23. Ill health forced his taking opportunity of passage to Sydney in the "Flash". Visit to Hervey and Samoan Islands on the way. Aug. 31. Sailing for Tahiti in the "Flash" next day. Health improved.
