Germans is more probable than a full-
scale attack on Russia. It is thought that
such an offensive would include a drive
against the Caucasus and a direct move
against Asia Minor, efforts being made
to hold the northern and central sectors
of the Eastern front.
In view of this possibility it is felt that
it is imperative that the Allies should be
as powerful as possible, particularly, of
course, in the air in the Middle East.
The Turks feel that large reinforcements
should be sent to Syria, Iraq and Pales-
tine so as to be ready to move to any
point where danger mav arise.
If Germany should launch an attack
on Turkey there is no question that the
Turks would resist with all their force.
But in view of developments elsewhere
their anxiety as to the certainty of ade-
quate assistance will be understood.
Bulgaria Under Nazis
Bulgaria is to-day almost as much
under Nazi control as Roumania. The
naval bases at Varna and Bourgas are
entirely under German supervision, and
it is even reported...”
