If it were next spring it would be a very different matter, and any reports that are then forthcoming of troop concentrations in South-Eastern Europe will have to be treated with considerable respect. A Saadabad Pact Meeting? The recent report that there was to be a meeting shortly of the signatories of the Saadabad Pact— Turkey, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan—was denied at the time, but it was indicated that circumstances might make such a meeting desirable in the near future. It is now reported that steps are being taken to convene a conference at Ankara at an early date, and it is to be assumed that if the meeting takes place (and it is quite possible that it may again be postponed), the discussions will deal with recent developments in the political situation as they may be held to affect the countries linked in the Pact. “ Our...”
