“...friends of the Turks were the British and the French, the President explained, and friends they would remain; nor would there be any lukewarmness in honouring obligations.
Nor in the hearts of Britain’s allies in the Middle East, Iraq and Egypt, has there been the slightest questioning that the cause to which the free Arabs and Egyptians were last week committed by their Governments is most just. Like the gallant soldier he is,
General Nuri as Said, Iraqi Prime Minister, leapt to meet the obligations which his country voluntarily assumed. No anxiety, surely, need be felt at the attitude of the varied population of the Land of the Two Rivers.

“...will now, no doubt, have to be postponed to some extent. One new scheme is the establishment of a summer resort for which £100,000 has been allocated, and others include a housing scheme and provision for child welfare institutions and maternity homes.
Nineteen projects are included in the programme, the comprehensive character of which may be gathered from the fact that it comprises roads, bridges, telephones, grain warehouses, etc. The programme illustrates plainly the forward policy which the Iraq Government is pursuing and the imagination which has been displayed in drawing up the various schemes.
