- Collection name: Hassan Musa Mail Art Collection
- General Note:
- Reference: MS 381333/48
- General Note:
- Acquisition: The donation was made to SOAS Library in June 2018 by Elsbeth Court, an academic who teaches African Art on the IFCELS course at SOAS, with the support and agreement of the artist Hassan Musa.
- General Note:
- Mail Art. With this envelope, Musa offers a critique of celebrity and capitalist culture. He appropriates a stamp of Andy Warhol's iconic, influential print of Marilyn Monroe (1962) and collages it onto a medical diagram of a man's soft-tissue, in to which he sticks an array of big brand logos (cf. St Sebastian, Archive 26). Note 'hell' from Shell, also the name of a satirical newsletter Musa produced in the early 2000's.
