- Refers to his recent visit to the 'Indians up the Demerary River' [indigenous peoples, Amerindians], as discussed in his previous letter of 8 December 1815. Has seen the Governor upon his return anmd has presented a plan for 'their religious instruction, civilization & for training them up to habits of industry' - this would be the basis of a more permanent 'Mission to the Indians'.
