Begins with a description of taking over the mission ot Demerara, which had been vacant for 12 months since John Wray left. Journal describes in detail the activities of the mission, especially preaching of the gospel to the local slave and free community. Refers to the attitude of the local planters and the Governor towards his preaching. Comments on increasing attendance to services, and describes his preaching activities on a day to day basis. Includes comments upon the estates, such as the relationships and workings between slaves, overseers and planters. |
