- William Pool (1815-1896) served with the London Missionary Society in Madagascar 1865-1881. He was sent out to Madagascar as a builder. He superintended the building of the churches at Ambohipotsy and at Andohalo, both opening in 1868. He built a new church at Ambohitantely, enlarged the church at Ankadibevava, and built a new church at Amparibe, which opened on 6 May 1870. The fourth Memorial Church at Ampamarinana was built under his superintendence. At the request of the Malagasy Government, he prepared plans for a Chapel Royal within the Palace enclosure, and took oversight of its erection. The Palace Church opened on 8 April 1880.
