Abstract:
Maha was born in Ramallah, West Bank, circa 1955. She left to (East Bank) Jordan after 1967 to study English literature. She married at the age of 18 and had four children. She worked as a teacher for 4 years, before resigning to pursue a BA in music, after which she began teaching music to children. Maha was encouraged to volunteer and undertake charitable work by her mother, which she did for many years. She has helped people in need (the poor, people with disabilities, orphans, refugees, amongst others) in all aspects of their lives. In 2008, she co-founded the association Ibdaa (meaning, ‘creativity’) in order to support children and young adults in realizing their creativity. She organized the First Arab Creativity Conference. The association has won a number of awards for its work. ( en )
