520 3    |a Tereza was born in Madaba, Jordan, in 1954. She entered the University of Jordan in 1971 but was expelled due to her political activism. She finished her studies in economics in Baghdad, Iraq. She became politically active in 1969, joining the Jordanian students' movement, which was organised by the Communist Party. Upon finishing her studies, she returned to Jordan, worked as an economics teacher in vocational schools and joined the Jordanian Women's Union. She ran in the parliamentary elections of 2010 (but was not elected) Regarding the Arab uprisings, Tereza believes that the people were right to rise up against their regimes but that the protests have been hijacked by Islamist and Jihadist elements, threatening security, democracy and women’s rights.
