520 3    |a Dina was born in Cairo in 1986. Her mother was a public school librarian and her father was an engineer. Dina’s father and grandfather were both politically active Nasserites. Dina studied political science at Cairo University. While at university, she was involved with the Model United Nations. After university, she became more interested in politics, working as a writer for a youth magazine and then a political affairs publication. After she began working at the Arab League’s Arab Women Organization, she became involved with the Bussy project, which raises awareness of violence against women and she became more aware of women's rights and gender issues. She participated in the 25 January 2011 uprising from the beginning. After Mubarak stepped down, she joined the Egyptian Social Democratic Party and became head of the women’s affairs committee, as well as working on foreign relations for the party. As of the interview, she was helping to train Egyptian women in political participation.
