Occasion: Marteau's nephew was visiting the camp, he had a reputation for excellence in singing 'ezelay' (heroic ballads), see [audio title] "T5A Tuareg 'ezelay' (male sung heroic ballad)". Marteau called me to bring my tape recorder, he knew I was interested in these performances. Moving occasions, with spontaneous approval, including yodelling by women, from the enthralled group that spontaneously gathered to listen under Marteau’s leather tent and metal workshop.
