Notes

Thorpe provides a critical commentary of the treaties entered between Britain, Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands to abolish the slave trade. He argues that rather than ending the trade it will strengthen it. He criticizes the establishment of Commission Courts arguing that they will protect the slave trade. ( en )
