Biographical:
Editor's note: It is with great sadness that I inform readers that Julia Leslie has just passed away, on the day this publication was going to press. She had been suffering from cancer for around eighteen months. Her demise will be deeply felt by not only her family, friends and colleagues, but by the many thousands of people who have been effected by her work. The comments by some of the contributors to this publication reflect the enormous influence Julia has often had on those whose lives she has touched. Her loss to the world is inestimable. The publication of a tribute to her life and work is currently being organised by some of her colleagues. Dr Leslie was recently promoted to the position of Reader in Sanskrit and Hindu Studies, in the Department of the Study of Religions at SOAS. -- Matthew Clark, September 24, 2004.
