General Note:: The amāvasyā of the month of Jyeṣṭha is a day for bathing and pūjā at bayan (baṛ) trees. When the new moon falls on a Monday (Somavatī Amāvasyā) the water in the well at Bhaṇḍirban is said to turn into milk. Villagers come early in the morning to bathe in the milky water and a fair is held around the well.
