On Bhādrapada śuklapakṣa 13 a re-enactment of the 'Dān Līlā' is held at Barsānā in a narrow passage between two hills where Kṛṣṇa is said to have intercepted Rādhā and broken the pot (maṭukī) of curd which she was carrying. Two days later, on the day of the full moon, a Līlā on the theme of Kṛṣṇa stealing butter is performed at the nearby village of Karahla, where Rās Līlā is said to have originated
