Account of Edward Main [Mayne, or Maine], one of the first missionaries to set sail for the South Seas [South Pacific] with the London Missionary Society on the Duff. Continues an account of his life after his resignation from the Society in 1798, in the penal colony at Port Jackson, New South Wales ( , )
Abstract:
Edward Main was born in 1772. He was appointed as a missionary to the South Seas with the London Missionary Society, and sailed on 10 Aug 1796 aborad the Duff. They arrived at Tahiti on 6 Mar 1797. Leaving for Port Jackson on 31 Mar 1798, he arrived 14 May, and resigned from the Society.
