TAYLOR CLAN TOURS CHINA
The three weeks of July 25 to August 14 were an unforgettable sequence of treasured family experiences. From Singapore (Jim and Leone) and Seattle (Erik and Signe Taylor Alsin), Berkeley (Jamie IV), Indianapolis (Bruce and Amy Taylor Jackson), Dayton (John and Beth) and Camden (Mary Previte and her daughter Alice), eleven of us converged on Hong Kong to begin our own tailor-made tour of China. Mary's symbolic act of kissing...”

“...with their parents. Perhaps the greatest disappointment of the whole trip to China was our inability to gain travel clearance to visit Fengxiang. The area is simply not open to foreign tourists. While in Xian we were able to visit the former Baptist Mission Hospital where Jim's younger brother Bertie was bom. It is now the Fourth People's Hospital.
In the northwest we saw five or six former friends and colleagues of Jim's parents. One, a pastor, had been imprisoned for his Christian faith and association with missionaries. He welcomed us as one of his own family, and told how he had finally been exonerated ("the hat removed") after the Gang of Four were toppled from power and how he now preached regularly in the local open church. What an indescribable joy it was also to see Lora again. As a wee orphan girl she had been adopted by a

CHANGE OF CHAIRMAN FOR THE GREAT BRITAIN BRANCH
Thank you to Rev. Joseph Liversldge and welcome to Norman Cliff. Joseph Liversidge has done so much for the Association since he took over the chairmanship about ten years ago. It must have been some effort to come to Tunbridge Wells for the Committee meetings and other occasions but we always found Joe gracious and unhurried and ready to listen to all aspects before asking for a decision. At Reunions he and his wife Betty were always evident and ready to welcome us as we came. However, as they have moved further away from London and have no reason to come as far south, Joe has felt it wise to relinquish the 'post.' Thank you, Joe, for all you have done for our Association. We welcome Norman Cliff as the new Chairman of the Great Britain branch. We know that he is very interested in all who have connections with Chefoo and look forward to being able to share his interest and enthusiasm...”

TOM TWEDDELL - 1948-51 (OMF, Garcia Subdivision, Batangas City 4201, Philippines), a radio engineer, and OMF missionary, is busy developing the Mindoro Radio Project to reach the Mangyan tribal people of Mindoro Island. This is in association with F.E.B.C. At a recent conference of Mindoro Island missionaries Tom and his wife Vicky put on a unique demonstration. Right in the front room of the Mission Home Tom set up a broadcasting station with a small transmitter, and Vicky fed in the prepared tapes. It is expected that by September 1984 programs will be aired.

“...US, and operating "Castle Inn" in Tsingtao, China. Latterly he was in the real estate business in Blairstown, N.J. He was a good, family-caring man, keeping in touch with letters to all the 'clan’, announcing the marriages of grandchildren and births of great grands. Last year (1982) on his 90th birthday many of the over 90 members of the clan came from all over the USA to celebrate. Since 1977, through Phyllis (Booth) Eanes’ contact with him, he became a keen member of the Chefoo Schools Association, and regularly sent in most interesting news items for the Magazine. He also sent us a priceless collection of old Chefoo magazines - from the very first one, issued in 1908. These are in safe keeping in our Chefoo Archives. We are indebted to his sister Laura (Cornwell) Brose of Gresham, Or., for sending us a fine tribute to William, parts of which we have quoted above. This tribute ends with the following appropriate Scripture quotations,
'No eye has seen No ear has heard No mind has conceived...”
