“...the libraries of schools in Chefoo were definitely denied and were given to individual Chinese en route. However the beautiful and expensive books with illustrations of North America were politely accepted by a school, a hospital and an embroidery factory in Chefoo).
CHEFOO TOUR A September 1-17, 1981
General Conclusions from our Chefoo Tour by Edward Wells (1908-1915) 20 Berkeley Road,
Millburn, N.J. 07041, U.S.A.
In September 1981, a centennial tour was organized, under the Chefoo Schools Association to revisit Chefoo and, in passing, Tsinan and Tsingtao in Shantung, connected by train service, as well as other major cities, e.g. Peking and Shanghai. We wished to see what landmarks remain, and what changes have occurred since we were children - an average period of 50 to 60 years. There were 44 persons in two groups A and B, on the tour, about 28 former students and the remainder, family members and friends. Chefoo is off the beaten path of tourism. Without an airport and with no available...”

“...photograph of herself shaking hands with the Queen Mother. They were also on T.V. (Bea and Dorothy Stark were thrilled to see it.) The next event was the Edinburgh premiere on April 3rd., and Air Canada flew over Eric's 2 daughters for this. Unfortunately Eric's widow was not well enough to go. As Eric was a graduate of Edinburgh University a reception was held there after the showing of the film. On June 20th Jenny was asked to present the "Eric Liddell Trophy" at the Scottish Schools Athletic Association Sports in Glasgow, and in September was called by long-distance 'phone by a reporter from the New York Times, he asked her about the film

“...he and his wife had already given volunteer help during a number of mailings. He has not only been efficient in the accounting but will be much missed in the many other duties he quietly assumed. He will again enjoy more time in his lovely garden and return to his painting. Several of his paintings hang in the office and will often remind the staff of his years with us."
Stephen Wuest - 1963-66 (c/o The Diakonia. Society, P.O. Box 11437, Chicago, 111.60611) 'It was so good to hear from the Association. Any occasion which brings back memories of my life at the Malaysian Chefoo School is pleasant. My heart is very near to the concern of excellent Christian Education.
If it is not too much to ask, could you please send me the present addresses of Fred, and Margaret
