Born in 1914, spent a period from 1920 to 1931 at our old schools in Chefoo. He emigrated to Canada and joined the Imperial Bank of Canada at Toronto, and remained on staff except for active service in the war of 1939-1945. He became a bank manager and was attending to some of his duties when stricken with a heart attack, from which he died on January 3, 1968, leaving a wife, Violet, whom he met in England during the war and a son, William, born in 1947. BILL was a popular person, active in church, community and welfare work, and he was often seen at Chinese meals or other Chefoo social activities. He will be missed by all who knew him.

“...Chinese and other international students at Indiana University here.
We need prayer for this work among these future leaders of the world, that more of them may be led to faith in Christ. Our youngest son GEORGE and his wife and children attend and are active in the same Presbyterian Church here. Our son CHARLES is still in school administration and teaching in Arkansas. Four of my sisters, SARAH, ESTHER, RUTH AND HARRIET and our three sons, ROBERT, CHARLES AND GEORGE all attended the C. I. M. schools in Chefoo at various times. My years at the school were from 1903 to 1910 under Miss Blackmore at the Prep and Mr.
McCarthy at the Boys' school.
JOHN KAUDERER, a most faithful correspondent reports successful detective work locating old Chefusians and hearing from distant ones. "I received Christmas greetings from Table Mountain as viewed from Bloubergstrand, Cape Town, sent by CHRISTOPHER FAIRCLOUGH telling of the delightful time he had visiting friends in Rhodesia and South Africa, and expecting...”

“...32.
D' ye ken the Prep with its noble staff.
D' ye ken the dispensary for your cough Can you hear the Prepites shout and laugh,
By the side of the sea at Chefoo?
Chorus:
For we love that old school by the China shore And we'll sing its praises o'er and o'er But the Chefoo Schools shall be no more By the side of the sea at Chefoo.
D'ye ken the girls up Goopy's Hill,
D'ye ken Miss Dobson's bitter pill,
D'ye ken the food that you ate your fill,
By the side of the sea at Chefoo?
D'ye ken the B. S. grand and tall,
D'ye ken the ivy on the wall,
D'ye ken the running in the hall,
By the side of the sea at Chefoo?
D'ye ken the things we used to play,
D'ye ken the game on Foundation Day,
D'ye ken the boating in the bay,
By the side of the sea at Chefoo?
