"Hitherto the various Magazines have not contained very much of School News. It is
with the express object of chronicling School events - and so in a small way of writing a
contemporary history of the Chefoo Schools."
The editorial goes on to say:
"Here it may be well to say that there is not the slightest intention to publish this
Magazine in opposition to the one issued by the Chefoo Schools Association. We
believe there is ample room for this Magazine side by side with the one already
published."
And
"This paper is not published at present officially by the School or by the China Inland
Mission and so in no way are the Mission or School Authorities responsible for its
content."
This is the only issue of this magazine in the Chefoo Schools Association collections, though
it was clearly the intention that it continue. If it did not continue this might be because
students come and go with frequency, and because such publications are often the work of
a small handful...”

Alumni's The Chefoo Magazine, but the focus was strictly on activities at School.
• In the Editorial of the first issue it states that it is "an official and united B.S.-G.S.
magazine" (i.e. Boys School and Girls School), it went on to state that "Its purpose is to
give a record of living interest, of the activities of the schools during the previous term
and is to provide an outlet for the literary talent which otherwise would remain latent."
Further, "The editorship of this magazine will be in the hands of the B.S. and G.S.
alternately,. . ." There is no indication on how widely the magazine was distributed
beyond the schools themselves but given that they are in the North America Branch
archives we think it was distributed to alumni, at least, and quite likely to CIM
missionaries.
• It appears that except for two issues, Vol 3, No. 8 and Volume 4, No 1 being missing, this
is a fairly complete collection of this magazine. However, we do not know if Volume 4,
Number...”
