operation has been that in which Mr. Robertson, by joining
with the Roman Catholic priest, was able to get the
Market Day changed from Sunday to Wednesday, to the
great benefit of the Christians. Among the schools, the
Atur Upper Elementary School has done the best work
through the energy of its headmaster. Kindergarten
apparatus has been introduced, and wall blackboards for
free-arm drawing, on which twenty-four boys, armed with
coloured chalks, acquit themselves. A Natural History
Museum is being built up. Two new schools form two
new links in a chain of schools which Mr. Robertson is
forming from Atur and back to it in a circle.
The work in the Koruvar Settlement has been going on
steadily. The Koruvars are a thief-caste, in whom the
practice of robbery amounts to a religion and isa matter
of hereditary pride. The Government has become interested
in the establishment of settlements among these people,
and would like to start a settlement itself, and visits by
the collector...”
