This little volume by Dr. Margoliouth, Laudian Prof'essor of Arabic in the University of Oxford, consists of the Schweich Lectures for 1921, which now appear rather belatedly. The autlior devotes his attention first to the Arabic matei’ial in the Old Testament, especially in personal names, and the references to Arabia in the Bible, after which he considers the Jewish penetration of Arabia and the allusions to it in rabbinical sources. The matter is distributed in three lectures, entitled respectively: The Pre-Biblical. Period؛ The Biblical Period؛ The Early Christian Centuries. While the subject is treated with the broad learning we have learned to expect from the distinguished author, his erudition is not allowed to obscure his style, as is so often the case with the works of other savants.
