Baronet, Sir Joseph Banks (1743-1820) was a British naturalist who took part in Captain James Cook's first great voyage (1768–1771).

Perkins may be Private John Perkins of the Plymouth Division, who joined Captain Cook on the Endeavor for the exploration of New Zealand from 9 July 1776.
