THE CHEFOO SCHOOLS (Founded in 1880)
Chefoo was established by the China Inland Mission at Chefoo (Yantai) in Northern China to provide an education for the children of missionaries and the business and diplomatic communities. In 1951 the school left China to relocate in South East Asia. Two Chefoo Schools are currently operating as junior schools in Japan and Malaysia under the Overseas Missionary Fellowship.

“...months at the Yangchow Language School when mission asked her to proceed to the Chefoo Schools. Although, like mcs appointees to Chefoo, she had hoped to go to inland China, she had beer prepared for this possibility when the leaders back in America had learned tha she was a trained teacher. After settling in happily at the schools, she recafcs. ‘Members of the staff were mostly British, and I was the only American at that tire and it was my responsibility to see that the American children met the America' educational standards.’
In May 1937, she was going by rickshaw to the British Consulate for tha celebrations of the coronation of King George VI, but was thrown off the vehioe whilst still in the Compound, and ended up being treated at the P.U.M.C r Peking. After recuperating at Paitaiho she returned to Chefoo.
