The schools themselves, we are glad to know, carry steadily on. Of some Chefusians who are in the Services we have cheering news; of others we can know little at present. There can be few of us now in these islands who have not seen, and perhaps suffered, the devastation of air-raids. There can be few of us indeed—on either side of the Atlantic, or in either hemisphere, for that matter—who are not now deeply and directly involved, with whatever reluctance, in the issues of the conflict. “...able to publish this issue and trust that it will bring some pleasure and interest to many of our members who are otherwise out of touch with their old friends and acquaintances of Chefoo days. As our Editor says, we are all affected to some degree by war time conditions and these make it impossible for us to carry on the activities of our Association in the same way as we should like to in the happier days of peace. We hope to publish another issue in December and news should reach the News-Editors before November 5th. Members are reminded that the annual subscription for the Association is 2/6, not 2/3 which was clearly stated in the last issue as being the subscription for the “ Chefusian ” which is the magazine published at the schools in Chefoo.
