Letters from Chefoo.
Hullo, there ! At last Xmas has come ! We awoke early this morning to the strains of “ Hark, the herald angels sing ” on the cornet, played by Mr. Fry right up at his attic window in the San.
Monday morning we spent in opening presents and rollerskating. During the morning two of the “ Sons,” Dr. Watson and Mr. Matthews, came and roller-skated with us.
In the afternoon we went over to the Prayer Room where a little red brick house was standing. Mr. Taylor then introduced us to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Dr. Broomhall, behind the house, was making it more interesting by playing the mouth-organ and speaking for the Dwarfs.
Snow White in the glass box turned out to be Santa Claus, Mr. Keeble, and Dr. Watson rode in on a donkey as Prince Charming, with Mr. Matthews as a groom.
After supper on Sunday we were sitting upstairs on little Prep, school chairs when suddenly the whole building...”
