|a Biographical information: Father George Shanks was born 23 February 1909 in Cullercoats, North Shields, England. He was ordained a priest at the age of 24 on 17 September 1933, after which he served as Priest of St. Joseph’s Missionary Society of Mill Hill in Maindenhead, England. On 30 May 1952, at the age of 43, he was appointed Prefect of Jammu and Kashmir in India and died in Dollish Hill, London, while still Prefect, on 13 December 1962 at the age of 53. -- Information from Catholic-Hierarchy.org
