“...visits to Syria, the Lebanon, Palestine and Trans-Jordan with this end in view. Orders for pharmaceutical products, of the kind formerly supplied by Germany, are being placed in large quantities with factories in Palestine by Egyptian and Turkish firms; and in other ways, too, the economy of the Eastern Mediterranean lands is being closer-knit by this new process of unification of international outlook.
It will be gathered, therefore, that the peoples of Palestine, Syria, the Lebanon, Trans-Jordan, Iraq, Egypt and, further north, Turkey, must take a profound interest in the unfolding of events in the Balkans. Any emergency which might develop among Turkey’s western neighbours would find her eastern friends anxious not only about their own future, but also the well-being of the power that controls the outlet of the Dardanelles into the Aegean and Mediterranean.

“...cases being despatched to Haifa, an increase of 521,387 cases in the consignments to that port. For the whole season up to the end of April the traffic totalled 7,263,925 cases, an increase of 1,295,686 cases.
